Juniors

Junior golf is long established at Sudbury and is supported by all sections of the club. Most young juniors start by having group lessons with one of our club professionals and as they become more competent they progress to playing on the course and achieving a handicap in the usual way. Juniors of all handicaps are encouraged to take part in club competitions accompanied by an adult. In this way they learn the rules and etiquette of the game.

When the clocks change in March there are opportunities for juniors to play in medals on Sunday afternoons and weekdays during school holidays and this together with playing in the other club medal competitions we feel keeps junior handicaps in line with the average club member. Juniors are so competitive and want their handicaps to come down, we are happy for them to win any event.

Over the years Sudbury Juniors have had success at Middlesex County events both as individuals and as members of teams. We also enter a team of six in the Frien League which gives juniors the chance to play against other clubs on a home and away basis.

We like to think at Sudbury that it is your ability, not your age that is important in golfing matters and juniors are selected to represent the club in section and first team matches. We hope juniors enjoy playing golf here and many continue playing into adulthood where some have obtained plus handicaps and even moved onto the Professional ranks.
